Video downloads of the week: CES does smart grid

With the last week's Consumer Electronics Show serving as a launchpad for a number of new smart appliances, we had a hot debate going over in our Tuesday Topic forum about whether the timing is right given so many U.S. households aren't yet wired for home energy monitoring. (It's not too late to weigh in; jump to smart appliances a dumb idea now.)

But in all fairness we decided we really ought to give smart appliance manufacturers their own turn, so we've rounded up a few of their CES videos as our download of the week:

·         LG THINQ technology demo â€“ LG unveiled a full range of smart appliances, enabled by LG THINQâ„¢ Technology. Get a first-hand look at this new technology in this demo video.

·         GE appliances at CES 2011 â€“ Mike Beyerle of GE describes how the GE Nucleus can transform smart appliances into part of the smart grid, saving energy and improving convenience for homeowners.

·         Sub-Zero smart appliances with Control4, ZigBee â€“ Sub-Zero demonstrated smart appliances integrated with Control4 home automation and ZigBee wireless technology.
