Glammin’ Up the Grid (at 198 MPH)

Porsche, not wanting to be left out of the EV/PHEV market, released three flavors of  hybrid sports car this week guaranteed to add some serious excitement for greenies

with grid-scale bank accounts. In other words, don't expect the new 918 Spyder (now in prototype phase and pictured here) to come any cheaper than the 2010 Carrera you can pick up for about $100,000.

 

While exotic sports cars may be out of reach for most of us, iconic luxury rides have always attracted their share of attention — and frequently their technologies drift down to the bread-and-butter models most of us drive. That and, according to a number of recent surveys, most consumers don't know what the Smart Grid is or they're afraid of it. Maybe a little glamour will help. It has in the past.
