With a $1 million award from the DOE, an alliance of clean tech organizations have formed U-Launch to enable cutting-edge energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies to progress out of university labs and into commercial development. U-Launch will provide grants and venture creation services up to $100,000 and also connect the university labs with incubators and experienced entrepreneurs. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis with the first award announcements expected in early 2011. New England-based U-Launch is one of five "innovation ecosystem" proposals funded by the DOE around the country.
