Ice Energy, provider of intelligent energy storage for electric utilities, announced a strategic relationship with Ingersoll Rand's Trane to design and deliver energy storage-compatible, high-efficiency HVAC solutions for commercial customers. The collaboration will pair Trane's commercial HVAC systems with Ice Energy's Ice Bear distributed energy storage technology in small to mid-size commercial buildings. The combined solution will help customers cut peak power demand, hike energy efficiency and reduce the building's environmental footprint. "Combining Ice Bear energy storage with high-efficiency Trane systems represents an exciting new approach to helping our customers shift their peak electricity demand," according to Tom Troyanek, director of sourced product development for Trane. "They can now take advantage of more efficient nighttime power to provide daytime cooling, which can lower energy costs without impacting occupants' comfort."
