Global spending on new T&D equipment and services will hit $107 billion in 2010, according to a report from information and consulting services provider Visiongain. The report notes that increased electricity demand and large-scale industrial growth in many countries are driving the market.

Quick Take: Transmission and distribution infrastructure has long been neglected in many countries, so new spending for that reason alone is a given. Growing industrialization in transitional economies and the need to provide transmission lines for often remote sources of renewable energy add to the pressure to spend on T&D infrastructure.
