. PROJECT WINS
· GE snagged what it says is the largest series compensation project in the U.S., working with Electric Transmission Texas, a joint venture between subsidiaries of American Electric Power and MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co. Under terms of the multi-million dollar contract, GE will install eight series compensation banks at four different facilities owned by ETT in West and Central Texas. The project, which is part of a larger $7 billion competitive renewable energy zone initiative enacted by the Public Utility Commission of Texasand administered by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, centers around providing transmission line access for wind power development in the Western and Panhandle regions of Texas. · Alarm.com, a Vienna, Virginia-based provider of interactive home security and energy management technology, reports that San Diego Gas & Electric selected it for its recently launched Reduce Your Use thermostat program, which enables users of Alarm.com's emPower home energy management technology to earn energy saving credits on their utility bills. · Alstom Brazil won a $226 million contract to supply equipment for a hydro project in Columbia. According to a NewNet report, the 127-month contract with the Latin American utility group EPM will include turbines, generators and other equipment. Read more >>
· LightRiver Technologies has won a five-year contract to upgrade the State of California Department of Water Resources communication network infrastructure. According Concord, CA-based LightRiver, the statewide network will consist of next-generation optical networking technology at 135 sites and two network operations centers and provide SCADA, voice, video and data communications for operating the water facilities, which consist of storage facilities, pumping and hydroelectric power plants, and approximately 700 miles of canals, tunnels, pipelines. FINANCING AND M&A WINS
· Space‐Time Insight, a provider of next‐generation situational intelligence solutions based in Fremont, CA, has raised $14 million in Series B funding to speed adoption of the company’s geospatial and visual analytics software. Three investment funds focused on emerging companies active in the energy sector, EnerTech Capital, Novus Energy Partners and ClearSky Power & Technology Fund, joined existing investors, Opus Capital Ventures and Start Up Farms International (SUFI), in this round of financing. · LS Power announced it has completed financing and authorized construction of the Centinela Solar Energy Project, a 170MW photovoltaic solar farm near El Centro, California. The Centinela Solar Energy Project will sell its entire output to San Diego Gas & Electric. The financing was structured with two tranches involving Prudential Capital Group, Sovereign Bank, N.A., Union Bank, N.A., Rabobank Nederland, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and NordLB.
