Grid optimization is the new hot topic … and a DMS is the best way to get there

A report from IDC Energy Insights reveals high interest from utilities in distribution optimization. Most utility executives cited fault location, isolation, and service restoration (FLISR) as their first interest, followed by voltage optimization.

When asked the most trusted source for these solutions, the surveyed executives put DMS vendors in first place.

The report also cites the growing need for DMS, saying that "factors such as distributed renewable generation, energy storage, and electric vehicles are increasing the complexity of the distribution environment and are necessitating more dynamic management of the distribution grid."
