review EERE's activities, including completion of long-range plans, priorities and strategies, program funding and other issues and report their findings directly to Energy Secretary Steven Chu. The overall intent is to ensure that EERE continues to focus on transformative research and technological innovations and moving them to the marketplace, and on green jobs creation, energy security and environmental issues. The advisory committee's 19 volunteer members were selected from a variety of areas and disciplines, such as education, industry, regulation and the scientific community.
Quick Take: Considering EERE's very broad range of responsibilities, from biomass and buildings to wind, water and solar power, it seems like a good call to have some outside expertise in the passenger seat.
