A Cleantech Group quarterly report had some surprising and welcome news for the clean technology sector, a primary driver for the Smart Grid. Venture investment deals grew 29% from Q4 2009 and 84% over Q1 2009. According to VentureBeat, the other big surprise in the report is that advanced transportation solutions stood out as the leading category in cleantech investing, beating out solar, the previous leader.
Quick Take: Definitely welcome news, as is the report's conclusion that while the IPO fervor of Q4 2009 and early Q1 of 2010 hadn't peaked at the heights analysts expected, that should change very soon.
