1 Siemens will install turnkey supervisory control and data acquisition technology (SCADA/DMS) for power distribution networks for the Indian state of Maharashtra's State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. The systems will be installed in eight cities in the state, including Greater Mumbai.
Under the terms of the contract, Siemens Infrastructure & Cities will provide all project management as well as the development, manufacture, implementation and commissioning of SCADA/DMS supervisory control centers for the cities. The order includes installation of remote terminal units in substations of various size and more than 4,000 compact remote terminal units in the 11 kilovolt distribution substations, and integrated IT systems such as a customer care system as well as a geographic information system for fast fault elimination. Siemens also will provide maintenance and other services for five years after the systems are commissioned.
"Our SCADA/DMS systems are successfully proving their worth in operation for numerous power providers and network operators in India. In network automation we are now one of the leading suppliers in that country. With the order from Maharashtra we have reinforced our position," commented Jan Mrosik, CEO of the Smart Grid Division of the Siemens Infrastructure & Cities group.
