The DOE is asking for comments and guidance from interested parties on a variety of smart grid related issues, including consumer benefits and the challenges consumers present to implementation. The information gained from the Energy Department's request for information (RFI) will be used to guide analysis of smart grid policy challenges and possible solutions. In addition to consumer-related topics, the RFI also addresses defining "smart grid" for policy making purposes, the benefits and challenges on the utility side of the meter and economy-wide benefits and challenges. All comments are due by Nov. 1.
