Major Players, Public Sector Join Effort to Educate Consumers and Guide California's Smart Grid Rollouts By SGN Staff Jun 25, 2010 - 1:16:43 PM
A new high-powered group, the Silicon Valley Smart Grid Task Force, has gathered leaders from industry, local government, academia and non-profits to help guide California's energy efficiency and Smart Grid technology rollouts and to ensure that consumers understand the benefits and importance of the initiatives to the state's environmental sustainability goals and energy conservation efforts. Members include Pacific Gas & Electric and the city of San Jose, as well as a who's who of Smart Grid companies including Cisco, Control4, Coulomb Technologies and Silver Spring Networks. The group's first chore will be to commission a study of the economic impacts of Smart Grid technology.
Quick Take: Yes, it's another Smart Grid coalition. And no, we don't see anything wrong with that. As long as consumer education is a part of the equation, these groups can help smooth out the rough spots as Smart Grid initiatives progress.
