Tendril has purchased GroundedPower, developer of the Interactive Customer Engagement System (ICES), to speed up the development and release of its end-to-end energy management and consumer engagement solution for electric utilities. Tendril also picked up an additional $23 million investment to complete the GroundedPower purchase and to support the development of energy efficiency and consumer engagement components of the Tendril platform. Quick Take: This announcement embodies at least two trends in home energy management. First, the sector is overcrowded. (I mean, waaaaaaayyyyy overcrowded. Mergers, acquisitions and failures will be the order of the day.) Second, the conversation has shifted from delivering energy data to delivering energy insights and recommendations, tailored to each consumer.
