We've all heard the warnings from the pundits telling utilities they MUST start using social media. But how specifically? And which utilities are doing it right so we can learn from their efforts? A new infographic from Zpryme begins to answer those questions.
According to the accompanying press release (see Page 2), Facebook is best used for customer service. Want to see it done right? Reliant Energy is the country's best, says Zpryme, followed by Florida Power & Light and Detroit Edison.
Twitter is best for crisis management and outages. Dominion Virginia Power is a "a brilliant example of social-media-done-right" says the report, citing its earthquake updates last year. San Diego Gas & Electric and Public Service Electric & Gas are also good examples.
YouTube is the social media of choice for consumer education. Zpryme lists Florida Power & Light as the leading example for its ability to appeal to customers via video. Puget Sound Energy and Duke Energy Carolinas also get high marks.
